Who we are

We are the Baihuaeri of Bameno

Kewengi Tours is run by the Baihua family, Waorani people who live in Bameno, inside Yasuní National Park.

We don’t show you the forest from a hotel: we take you into our home. Our guides grew up reading tracks, fishing the rivers and listening to the stories of our elders, and that is what we share with you.

FAQ

Before you travel

How do I get to Bameno?

The starting point is El Coca (Francisco de Orellana), a 30-minute flight from Quito. From El Coca we fly by small plane straight to the community, or travel overland to Shiripuno and continue by community canoe. We tell you which option applies to your dates.

Is there phone signal or internet?

Very little. It’s part of the experience: five days unplugged in the rainforest. We arrange everything on WhatsApp before the trip, and your family can reach our contact in El Coca.

Is it safe?

You always travel with a bilingual guide and a local Waorani guide who know the territory. Wildlife activities are done at a respectful distance and canoe trips are run by boatmen from the community.

How demanding is it?

Moderate: 2 to 4-hour walks on wet, muddy ground plus canoe rides. No previous experience needed, just a good attitude.

How do I book and pay?

Message us on WhatsApp with your dates and number of travelers. We send you a quote and a deposit by bank transfer secures your dates; the balance is paid before departure.

Do you speak English?

Yes. Groups are accompanied by a Spanish–English bilingual guide in addition to the local Waorani guide.
